Screencast Git
Reported by generationopen (at gmail) | December 22nd, 2012 @ 09:07 PM | in GenOpen Framework (closed)
Keeping in mind that we need very simple instructions for checking out and committing changes using Git - we need a screen-cast (Popcorned would be even better).

I think those are awesome links for tech people, but now I'm thinking that we need a few git screencasts for learning levels and Operating Systems . Git for Windows for example, Git on Mac...

Is possible to write some sort of script than we need?
- introduction to control versions ? - install/config git - I know for linux and mac is the same, via terminal. But I never do in windows? Is only with gui? - create config github account? - create new project - push projectSomething like this?
Are you recommend some app to do screencast in linux? -

So the requirement around this is to provide resources to anyone who wants to participate in this project.
So we need to have screencast for end-users with a variety of operating systems, and technical levels. For example.
1) A teacher with Windows 7, who has never seen GitHub, muchless understand what it's for
-> We need a screencast / or instructions for this person, that don't overwhelm and seem straight forward: ->->Maybe something like http://windows.github.com/help.html2) a youth, with Macbook - also no idea what Github is for, but they need to checkout the code
->-> maybe something like: http://mac.github.com/3) Instructor, familiar with command line and linux
basically these are our GenOpen participants, and we don't want these people to be deterred by the the task of checking out and commingling code.
Now, on OUR side of the project - adding in committing, releasing - maintaining, you're right we will need a standard as well.

- State changed from new to resolved
closing - will create a new one based on next iteration of conversation on version control
